Grace is a talented, passionate and inspiring teacher. She has changed our daughter’s life in so many ways. She has helped foster confidence and creativity and an incredible amount of fun as our daughter learns to sing and play the ukulele. Grace has deep respect for students and their process in learning and this shines through in every lesson. We absolutely adore Grace.

Beyond being just a lovely human, Grace is an unusually gifted music teacher. For more than four years, she has taught my daughter songwriting, ukulele, guitar, and voice. Grace’s deep experience in music and music education is apparent, but what makes her one of a kind is her radiant enthusiasm for what makes each of her students special. For her teaching is a very collaborative experience: she always finds a balance between building on my daughter’s own musical voice and interests while also setting clear, supportive expectations that she progress her instrument playing and songwriting in ways that will help her grow as a musician.

Our daughter started piano lessons with Grace when she was six, and from her first lesson, Grace immediately established a rapport. Grace is warm and friendly and made the lessons fun and rewarding. It’s amazing how she motivated our daughter to focus, practice and exercise her creativity (and it’s amazing how much our daughter’s musical skills developed).

Grace worked with our daughter on piano and voice. She encouraged our daughter's creativity in songwriting with zero patronizing. Our kid looked forward to her lessons and we still watch videos of her performing her own songs she created with Grace with awe at what they accomplished together.

I had a wonderful experience working with Grace. I am an adult learner with rudimentary guitar skills and singing-in-the-shower level voice skills. From our first lesson, Grace dove into helping me write songs. Since I was learning the technical concepts through making music, I felt much more inspired to practice. As a Montessori teacher myself, I found her method of teaching so inspiring and I think about it routinely in my work with children. Any learner, from a child to an adult, could gain a lot from working with Grace. I cannot recommend her highly enough.

For 4 years, Grace taught our daughter guitar and voice. Our daughter’s strumming skills and singing are getting quite good but the real genius of Grace is the confidence, creativity and joy that she inspires. Our daughter is proud of her talent and eager to work hard. That motivation is sustained by a teacher as skilled, patient and kind a teacher as Grace. Our daughter will forever be shaped by Grace’s tutelage and friendship.

My son at 12 years old, like many boys his age, had trouble focusing on a project (in this case an original song) where he was asked to work beyond what came to him easily. He could be stubborn, would often get discouraged and quit, but Grace nudged him along, was patient, encouraging, and really listened to his needs. The result was a great song that Grace requested he get the chance to record. It really built his confidence. He is now in the music composition program at SUNY Purchase. Thank you Grace!

Grace is a gift. An implausibly on-the-nose named person. A terrific musician and wonderful teacher, with a thoughtful, sensitive approach. Our son came to her with a lingering bad taste for music from a well intentioned but rigid teacher who wanted to teach him into a corner that was not right for him. Instead of enforcing a dogmatic method, Grace coaxed him to find his own musicality. We're grateful for her mentorship, partnership, and collaboration.

I approached Grace with the goal to make positive associations with my voice through singing and songwriting as an adult learning something new. Together, we surpassed that goal and her work has equipped me with tools I utilize in my career and communities. Grace intentionally created safe spaces and structured our lessons with exercises I have brought with me in all of my creative work since. She is a curious, kind, gentle, and firm teacher that helped me push past the places I would get stuck in my comfort zone. I have worked through her Listening Journal on two separate iterations and found the journeys to be tremendously transformative in how I approach making art and life.
